Yes. Your local bank's notary should provide this service for free since you have maintained an account with them. Do not forget to have the birth certificate notarized as well. Also if the child is to young to sign the application they would need a thumb impression (left thumb for boys and right for girls). Your local police station can do this for you since they are well aware of the correct imprint procedure. It has to be from extreme left to the extreme right corner of the thumb.

      PIO Card

      Dear dayanamathew,
Have you applied for your sons PIO card? if yes then would really appreciate if you could share your experience. I am planning to apply too for my 9 month old daughter. I have completed the form i have the following questions:

      1. the window opens at 9:15am whats the suggested time to be there in order to avoid big lines.
      2. all the copies (child & parents passport/birth certificate) has to be notarised? if yes then please suggest from where.
      3. how to take a thumb impression of a minor.
      4. Processing time for PIO card.

      thanks in advance,
      Naam_00.

        1) Depends where you live. If NYC, then by 7 am the latest.
        2) and 3) answered in last post.
        4) 4 weeks, from the time they receive your application. Does not include time needed to mail it back to you.
