Benefit of adding spouse's name in the passport

Is there any potential benefit of adding spouse's name in the passport. I'm a GC holder and in the process of renewing my passport. Would like to hear from you guys the pros and cons of doing it. Thanks !!

If you have one, do it. Also take your proof of marriage as they need it.

The person at the Indian Consulate took a 10 minute moral class for doing the benefit analysis to a friend of mine.

No. A marriage certificate is good enough for immigration. For family based GC petitions, it is better to have these taken care of as there is more scrutiny due to marriage fraud.
