Passport Re-issue Tatkal Scheme Time

I was wondering if anybody has experience with tatkal scheme with reissue of passport...
approxmately how long does it take?
Does it take the stipulated 3 days or often goes to more...
The thing is I am in India for a short while and was wondering whether to go ahead with the same.
I am in the Mumbai region.
