Passport Application Online

It's my turn to apply for a passport as the current passport will expire pretty soon. I am already frustrated with instructions provided on this website:

They say fill out the online form, print it, send it with other documents and fees. I filled out the application and then it generated a pdf version. I print it and notice that the file has a lot of blank fields. These blank fields need some crap like: Local car driving license number, when did I first leave India? When was he/she in India last? Present Emigration Status (I don't know what this is).

Now, am I supposed to fill these blanks? If I was supposed to, why didn't they ask before at the time when I was filling in information like my name and stuff? What’s point of having an “online” application if I have to fill out these blanks after printing it?

The instructions don’t say that I need to fill these blanks after printing the form !

Are they really stupid or what?

Emigration Status will be ECNR or ECNR Not required. It should be available on your passport.

I think I am just going to send a "mixed" version, half online/half ink.

If I don't get my Indian passport renewed, I will ask my friend at USCIS if he can help me get a U.S. passport.

... trying to see if someone can get us a dual-nationality passport?

Like an Indian/United States or Australian/US or such combos.

It should be possible so people don't have to go through so much trouble.

This will be especially helpful to those parents whose kids are born in the US and they want the Indian passport for some reason.

We are desis called very advanced in IT and Software Dev. and see how our Indian Government IT Infrastructure. They do not have proper guidence and rules posted on website for online application, all are very confused. After printing the form you have fill the emply filed. Then what is the use of "ONLINE' application.

After printing a form looks very confusing, Only India Consulate can read it, they dont have seprate application form for differennt catagory, like minor passport or any other service, all in one form.

This needs to be address, all we are getting very confused while renewing passport and there is no guarranty you will get your passport back, better to go in-person and apply at counter.
