Only 1.5 months left - apply for PIO or get vis extended?

My daughter has a US passport and we took a 1 year visa for her to visit India. We were supposed to go back, but now it looks like we are not going to US in near future. Daughter's visa expires in 1.5 months.

Is applying for PIO sufficient? What if it takes long? Should I also get her Visa extended? What's the procedure for that?

Yes, if you're currently in India ...

... you can apply for a PIO immediately and use that proof as valid enough for your daughter to continue living in India.
