OCI versus PIO

I recently filled PartA of the OCI form online. But on careful thought and more research it appears to me that the OCI application seems to take forever and I would like to visit India later in the year. Sine the application fee for a family of 4 appears to be the same for OCI versus PIO. And the PIO seems to be granted much sooner than OCI is it better to apply for PIO at this time and then after visit to India apply for the OCI.

Can I just disregard the online PArt A of the OCI and apply for PIO or will I have to do something to withdraw it prior to applying for the PIO?

If you have not sent anything yet, you can ignore it and go for PIO.
