  • Indian passport and PIO card

Is it possible to use this approach for keeping Indian passport for a US born child.

    1) Apply first for Indian passport
    2) Next, apply for US passport
    3) Apply for PIO card using the US passport
    4) Travel to India using PIO card and US passport and come back.

Questions: Is it possible to apply for PIO card even though the child has Indian passport. Ofcourse, while applying for PIO, we will use the US passport and not the Indian passport. Is it neccessary to declare that child has Indian passport?

Why the heck Indian embassy in US provides Indian passport to US born child when they know the US law that they are US citizen by birth?

Once you get the US passport, you are supposed to intimate Indian Embassy and return the Indian passport. You cannot have 2 passports.
