  • PIO card in houston and birth certificate format

    Hello,

I am traveling to houston to submit a PIO application for my newborn. Would someone be kind enough to answer to these two questions?

    1. The houston cgi site says 4 photos in toto and mentions submitting 2 copies of the form. I thought it would be 5 photos but does any one have experience in this regard?

    2. I have 2 different types of birth certificates for my son. There is a detailed one with the time and hospital name. The other one contains our (parents') name and my son's name and his date and place of birth. I believe that the second one should be sufficient. Could someone confirm these please?

Here's what I submitted to the Houston Consulate:

Not certain about the birth certificate, but the one I submitted did not have the time & hospital details, and I had no issues.

I think that you are confusing the letter you got from hospital with birth certificate. You need to apply for a copy of certficate from state of your residence with official seal.

        Update from my side

Many thanks to the people who replied to my post. I actually went to houston and submitted the docs in person. I submitted 4 photos in total. PIO is supposed to take 10 days for me. I don't know if it is generally so fast, or it has to do with my passport which is issued from Houston ( so it may not require any sort of verifications ?).

About birth certificate, I wasn't confused. I have birth certificate in two different formats: detailed one with birth time etc, and a basic one. I have a number of amendments done on the detailed birth certificate which includes changing my wife's surname to her married name so I wanted to avoid any kinda confusion at the consulate. The detailed one shows the old info at the top and the modified info at the bottom. However, the basic one just shows the updated info.

          Got my PIO card

It took me a week to get the PIO for my son. I dropped the application on 19th December and received the PIO today (29th) by Fedex. Thanks to everyone who helped.
