  • Thumb imprint of an infant...

I'm filling out the PIO application for my US born child.

Could someone tell me the best way to get a thumb imprint of an infant? I know we had these stamp pads back in India. Haven't seen one in the US. Worst case, I'd use writing ink - but given that it is a poisonous substance, I'm a little wary of dabbing it on the infant's finger. I've seen a suggestion to go down to the local police station to have them do it. However, I wasn't too sure if they would entertain such a request.

Also, there was something about getting the imprint of the entire finger (end-to-end). Not sure how accurate it needs to be.

    Thanks for your help.

    You do find ...

... such rubber stamp ink-pads in the local stationery stores or on-line.

Most local law enforcement agencies (police) will not fingerprint for immigration purposes, unless you know someone personally.

I wish I knew a better and safer alternative option to this one.

    Good luck.

      Thanks knowledgeable!

      One additional question -

Could you help me understand this question on the CGI Houston PIO Application form :-

      13) Whether the applicant or either of his/her parents or any of his/her grand parents or great grand parents was born
and was permanently resident in India as defined in the Government of India Act, 1935 * at any time. If so, following
      details may be indicated:
Date of birth: __________________________Place of birth_______________________________________________
Proof of residence etc: _____________________________ (Enclose photocopy of relevant documents; Note: If
applicant is the spouse of a citizen of India or a person of Indian origin, his/her particulars should be indicated).

What are they asking for here? Can I put my info in here? But what supporting document are they looking for? Something with my name & an India address on it? Do they need this address to be verifiable?

      Again, thanks for your help.

Any office supply store will carry stamp pads. Try Officemax, office depot or staples.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

          Were you ...

... born in India? Then you put your information here and submit your documentation, like birth certificate, copy of your old Indian passport etc.
