What if i want to look for work while in india?

Do I get a tourist visa (5 years) and then convert it with the high Commision in India once proof of employment papers have been received?

Can I get a work permit/residential permit in bombay?

Hi,

I'm a Canadian citizen - born and raised. My grandparents were born in India but no longer have an Indian passport since they became British subjects a long time ago. My one living grandma has a british passport that indicates born in India but I've been told this is insufficient for a PIO card.

I want to work in Bombay but as of yet, haven't found employmnet. I'm hoping I can get a tourist visa and once in India and get a job, show my employment papers to the Canadian High Commission for approval to work.

If your grandparents were Indian and you can prove that, you can apply for PIO card.
