  • PIO Card Holder-Child-Foreigner Registration

    Hi

My son is US Citizen and holds a PIO card, both parents are Indian Citizen's. He is currently in India with his mother. He will be staying in India for more than 180 days. Should he go to FRO/FRRO office and register after 180 days or is he exempt from registration ? (He is 10 months old now. )

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards

Any PIO holder will have to register with FRRO if a single stay exceeds 180 days. I don't think there are any exemptions to this rule, however the process seems to be very smooth.

PIO card Holders (children under 16 years )FRRO registration is required?

I think it is not required to register in local FRO

Children below 16 years: As per para 2 of Registration of Foreigners (Exemption) Order, 1957, children below the age of 16 years are exempt from the requirement of registration.

      Thanks
