    Hi ,
Myself and my wife both of us have applied for PIO on march 11th and looks like I have received mine on Mar 20th. However my wife PIO is not received yet.
Actually I could see from the usps tracking that, my wife application has been signed and received by indian consulate(which I have checked from the usps tracking). But the reverse tracking number for her application shows that there is no such record, which means her PIO has not been mailed yet.
We are wondering what could cause such kind of delays as both of us have applied at the same time with exact same set of documents. I know it has not been 3 full weeks yet, but the fact that I have received it, makes us think what could be delay.
Are such kind of delays common? What could be the possible reasons. Any pointers are highly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    US Citizen.

Which consulate did you apply at? There seems to be different processing guidelines for each: Houston is saying about 4 weeks, San Francisco three weeks. Mine took 4 weeks through Houston last October. In any case I wouldn't assume that both applications would be processed at the same time...

I'd suggest waiting at least the stated time period of three weeks before following up with them -- if it's anything like the Houston consulate they don't answer the phone anyway...
