My son was born in India, but is a US citizen, since I am also a US citizen. We live in India, because my husband is an Indian citizen and works in Hyderabad. I applied for an Indian visa for my son, but took it for only six months thinking I would go for an OCI card as soon as I got the visa. But in true Indian style, the commissioner's office in hyderabad only gave us the visa 2 weeks ago. The visa was still valid for a month so I happily sent off the OCI application to Chennai, our nearest center. I just got the application back today, with the comment that " the visa should be valid for a minimum 3 months to apply for OCI". Apart from applying for another Indian visa and then re-applying for an OCI card, can anyone PLEASE suggest any other alternatives of what to do. The visa expires in 20 days and I'm at my wits end!!

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do while dealing with Indian bureaucracy.
I just read an interesting post at http://www.immihelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63312 that says 'Dealing with anything in India is a hell' It is the same story everywhere.Immihelp Support
