  • Which is the best Passport for US born baby but to Indian origin parents

    Hi Experts,

I have seen this kind of post earlier, but posting again.

I am blessed with a baby girl and she is two months old now. It's time to apply a passport.

We might go back to India for Good in another 6 months to 1 year. Chances are there, we will not come back in near future say for another 10/15 years.

Based on this, which passport will be suitable for me
    1. US or Indian passport ?
    2. If I do get an Indian passport, will I be able to take my baby from US and enter in India without any problem?
    3. Do I need any kind of Visa if I apply for Indian passport?

What all things that I need to get an Indian passport for my baby?

My preference is to get an Indian passport but need to know everything before I apply for a passport?

If we come back to US, I will give up Indian passport, but long term plan is to be in India.

    Thanks in advance.

    You dot have choice

    Hi

Really you dont have choice. US govt wont allow you take baby out of US if she does not have US passport.

That is not true. At the airport, just the airline checks the passport. As long as you have valid passport, that is OK. They don't even check (even if they check, they don't fully understand the requirements of all the countries) whether you have sufficient permission to go to your destination.

        Why to take chances

Possible and there is a chance you will be allowed to go through by airline. However It is not Legal to take baby out of US if she is born on US Soil. As per US Law she is US citizen. Morover, how can you legally get her Birth Certificate in India?

Only you can decide which one would be better for your child.

However, if you decide to get Indian passport for your US born child, look at https:///indian-passport-services-in...parentage.html for complete procedures.
