Splitting Name

Hi,

I want to change my name (Split) in my Indian Passport(Also F-1 Visa) from this format

Given Name - "ABC" Last Name - "PQR XYZ"
to
Given Name - "ABC PQR" Last Name - "XYZ"

Where "ABC" is my first name
"PQR" is my middle name and
"XYZ" is my last name.

I am currently in USA and I am facing some problems with SSN. Please suggest the solution.

Below mentioned link says name split doesn't need advertisement in news papar but houston consulate website doesn't mention the same. Did anyone got name split in houston consulate without giving advertisement in news paper
