  • PIO Card Help?

    Hello,

I found your website, immihelp, while surfing the net for some information. I found it to be incredibly useful, but wanted to know something quite specific. Is it possible to hold a domestic bank account while holding either a PIO or OCI card? Is it possible to have residential status in India while holding a PIO or OCI card, without being a citizen (that is, can one be a resident without being a citizen, as it is possible
in the USA, while holding a green card)?

If you know the answer to these questions, or where I may obtain these
answers, I would greatly appreciate the information.

    Thank you for your help

If you are resident of India for 3 years, you can hold resident accounts.

Your PIO card allows you to stay in India for the duration of its dates of validity. If you're there for over 180 days on one continuous period you need to register within the next 30 days with the FRRO for a Residential Permit as noted here:
