  • OCI card Eligibility

    Hello,

I'm already a OCI card holder and now my mother would like to apply for the same, she is a French national by birth. Both her parents are also French born outside India. However she did 2 years of her schooling in a French school (registered in Pondicherry, India) and she has a school certificate stating that she did her schooling in India. Later she worked for 5 years in Pondicherry, India and she also has a letter for the same.

So I would like to know if these proofs are sufficient to apply for OCI.

Her mother who is a French national has a house (in India) in her name. Can this evidence be also sufficient to apply for OCI card?

    Thank you for your reply.

    That is not enough.

From what you described, how is your mother considered the person of Indian origin?

    Look at /oci-card/oci-eligibility.html for eligility.

Her grandparents were born in India. At present we have only the death certificate of her grand mother who died in 1959 in Pondicherry. In the death certificate we have her date and palce of brith (Pondicherry), but we couldn't get her brith ceritificate since she was born in 1892. The Pondicherry corporation office told us that they couldn't find her birth certificate since it was very old.

Other thant that we do not have any other proof.

      Thanks.
