OCI Card

Dear sir/madam,

I am currently in the process of applying for PIO card. However, I was advised by Indian high commission office in uk that I can only apply for OCI as the documents I have is pre independence of India.

I am concerned that this may dilute my British citizenship and in future it may affect the tax payment. I e. Indian government may expect me to pay the tax on income earned outside India.

Can you advise me on this matter.

Income tax liability in India is based on the physical residence (NRI or not) and not on OCI.

That does not affect British citizenship as OCI is not Indian citizenship.
