  • Regarding change of address in passport before visa application

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I need to know one thing. I had a F1 visa and I entered US in Aug'2008 as a student for a Master's program. But due to some medical reasons I had to withdraw from my Graduate program and come back to India and I came back in Feb'2010 and my visa status is no more valid. I have stayed there for 18 months. In May'2010, my friends there from my university in Buffalo, Newyork are graduating and they all have invited me for their Graduation Day. So I plan to apply for a Tourist visa(B2) now and go and attend their Graduation function. I got my passport for my Chennai address. Now we have shifted to Tiruchirapalli. Do I need to change my address in passport before I apply for my visa? And in my situation what documents will I need and will it be possible for me to get a B2 visa now ? Please help me with my queries and help me asap.

    1. You don't have to change your address in passport before applying for visa.

Thanks for the e-mail.I have one more query also. I am planning to visit the US for my friends' convocation. So my visit to the US will be for a very short duration, say just 10 days. My father is sponsoring my trip. Apart from the bank statement and tax returns, do I have so show a Chartered Accountant statement also? Please guide me.

It is really up to you. It is better to have more documents than less, in case they case for any of them.
