  • OCI Vs PIO Card

    Hi Sir/Mam,

My son born in USA in 2009. I am on L1 B visa and now want to travel in India.

Does my son eligible for OCI or PIO? Or Does i need to apply for normal visa for him?

I discussed with my friend and he was saying that my son will not get educational benefits if I will go for OCI or PIO card.

Can you provide me the details so that I can get more benefits as we want to stay in India only.

    Thanks.

You can apply for PIO card or India visa for him.

Getting PIO is advantage, not a disadvantage.

In fact, in order to study in India, he should get PIO. Otherwise, he will have to apply for student visa or something like that, you see, he is a foreigner (US citizen) in India.
Even with PIO, you will have to pay NRI fees for him.
