I'm preparing a trip to India and would like to visit some areas for which I'm not sure, if I need a special permit. I have read some information, but still I'm not sure.
As some cities might be visitable without permits when moving from one city to another seems to be forbidden in some cases unless you have a special permit or even not permited for individual visitors, as it will be my case.
Could anyone please help me with the following or indicate me the official address from the ministry to ask such questions? (I haven't found it)

- I want to visit Leh and the Alchi monastery. From what I've read I don't need a permit for that. However, from here I'm planning to go to Amritsar by bus (with some changes of bus in the middle) and it travels via Srinagar and Jammu. Here it is where I get lost. Do I need a permit to travel through this region even if not stopping?
- For Amritsar I haven't seen any restriction, nor any special requirement to go there to Delhi by train
- I also want to visit Jailsamer. I would go there from Jodhpur (bus or train) and then to Jaipur (by bus). For Jaisalmer city, it seems that I don't need a permit, but when going to the other cities, even if not stopping do I need one? It seems that when going out of the cities or via Bikaner I might need one, even if not my destination.
