  • Renunciation of Indian Citizenship and surrender certificate

    Hi All,
Can you please help me on how to fill this form XXII. It is very confusing. After filling 1 thro 6 and putting the signature, it has "Made and subscibed this.......before me" and there is another signature.
    Then it is particulars.
Then Signature again. I guess the last signature is the officer's signature. I am confused about second signature and also the particulars.
Please put some light on it friends.
    Thanks

Immihelp --> Is the form need to be sent as duplicate/triplicate? NYC website does not say so. However, the instructions in your website /indian-citizenship-renunciation-certificate/

says so. Also, heard that in the Indian consulate, NYC there is a notice that the form needs to be sent in triplicate.

        Any confirmation??

Everything is so disorganized and incosistent among different Indian consulates across the U.S., it is impossble to tell anything for 100% sure.

For example, look at the penalties regarding surrender certificate at Indian consulate in NY and then at San Francisco. Each of them have several errors in itself each and they don't really match up together. I spent almost half a day just reading it over and over again, just the penalties table to see how it can be made generic and consistent. Well, we did the best we could based on the information currently available. We are monitoring the situation and will provide updates accordingly.

            Another example of insanity:

Regarding PIO card procedures at Indian Consulate in San Francisco web site, on the same page, they mention three different procedures for return mail charges:

            1. A SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED TRACKABLE RETURN MAILING ENVELOPE (only FedEx, UPS, and USPS, accpted) No trackable return envelope... No Service.

            2. Further down the same page,

            Return Mailing
            * Stamped Self address USPS Express Mail Envelope (No other courier services accepted) or
            * $20 (twenty) for overnight return

            3. Right below it, exactly immediate next paragraph,

All mail applications submitted to the Consulate for consular services with a non-trackable return mailing envelope will be returned to the applicant without services. Please ensure to send a trackable return mailing envelope (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc...) to ensure traceability of documents after dispatch.

            ------------------
Which one is right? It is anyone's guess. It is insane.

            Jai Ho!!
