  • Do I need "Re-entry Permit" if entered on "Entry Visa X"?

    Hi,

I am Indian-born US Citizen planning to visit India in coming months. I don't have OCI/PIO. So, need to get "Entry Visa". However, I need to revisit India thrice in next 3 months so I need to know whether I will be required to get a "Re-Entry Permit"?

The website does not clearly say anything about "Entry Visa". It says "Re-Entry permit" is required for Tourist Visa.

Anyone has gone thro' it recently? Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    S

Note: The travisa website clearly states that re-entry permit is case by case basis and there is no definite processing time, hence, its kinda risky -
Processing Time: There is no guarantee that the permit will be granted. Only cases where the Ministry in India approves will be granted permission. The processing time is indefinite.

The re-entry permit applies only to the Tourist visa. Entry visa holders do not have that limitation.

That said, getting PIO/OCI will make everything much easier. I got my PIO in four weeks (Houston), and my wife's cousin got her OCI in under six weeks (DC).

      Thanks for replying it.

I also got the confirmation from TraVisa:

With an entry visa, you are not subject to travel restrictions, which means that you do not have to worry about the two-months rule.
