    Do i need surrender certificate for OCI collection?

    I have applied for OCI during April 2010 and got approved on May 2 and sent to consulate on May 12 . Do i need to obtain surrender certificate before i send my passports for OCI collection OR can i just send my passports for OCI collection?

    Without realizing this surrender certificate business, i booked tickets to India once my OCI was approved in July first week. I am worried that my passport will be struck in consulate office. Otherwise, i could take visa and go to india trip in the worst case. Any suggestion/experiences are welcome.

    You need surrender certificate in either case, before getting OCI or Visa.

      should i wait for surrender certificate

      Thanks for the reply. Should i first apply for surrender certificate or send for OCI collection?
