Renunciation Certificate

What happens in case person has misplaced his canceled/Expired Indian passport after obtaining Citizenship of other country as well as the OCI? How does one obtain Renunciation Certificate in this scenario? Are there any penalties for this? What are the options?

Good at least Government of India reduced the fees for obtaining Renunciation certificate.

Surrender Certificate.

I have lost my Indian passport. I have a copy of indian passport. it expired in march 2007. I got citizen in 2003. I also got OCI in april 2009. Moreover i have misplaced my Nautrilization Certificate also. Do i need SC? if needed what is the procedure. Any help is appreciated and thankx in advance

No Action Needed

I spoke to a lady in Indian Consulate & she mentioned that no action is needed as you can tell Indian consulate folks down the road if you need their services that you have misplaced your passport. You can confirm this with contacting the Indian Consulate in your area. But if you find it & its never been canceled then it is recommended that you get your passport stamped with canceled. Hope this helps. Please double check this info with your local consulate.
