Regularize a stay for minors who stayed in India with an expired US passport and OCI?

I went to Bangalore FRRO for OCI renewal and was told the same that I need to fix the gap in passport renewal first. They were very helpful and gave me a sheet with the detailed procedure on what to do, and exactly what to get notarized. They said it is a completely online process which will be done in just a few days.
