SFO OCI processing time update

I feel for you guys as well, this is a recent addition to ask for notarized copies of US passport. I lodged a protest on the twitter handle of SFO consulate, and so should all of you guys as well. Raise it up on Twitter and email to your local consulates. There is no reason for such nightmare to continue.

Do someone know why do they want notarized as well as the original passport ?
They return original and send the notarized to the Consulate

Expect 3-4 weeks for passport return from VFS SFO. They won't even update your status in the tracking system for 2 weeks straight, its sort of like dumping it in a black hole. After the application is submitted to the embassy, expect another 60 days from there for OCI to be delivered. Our entire family went through the ordeal and SFO is such a nightmare with the slowness of processing. Wish for us in Seattle area would be assigned to another consulate in the future, instead of SFO as this is just appalling how slow things move here.

Sounds like long wait time... I wish they are more transparent in the process.

In March, VFS SFO took 2 weeks to return our passports.

It took around 4 weeks for my passport to be returned from VFS SFO location!

SFO VFS is highly backlogged. You are definitely looking at a 2 week turnaround.

Somehow my status still hasn't updated, even though OCI was dispatched from MEA on the same date of March 16th.

Anyone else having better luck off late recently from SFO?

The same goes with mine dispatched from MEA (OCI) on 16th March but haven’t received any updates after that.

Hi all, I am preparing to submit my documents. I have my renunciation certificate and still have my old expired Indian Passport. Do i also need to send the expired Indian passport OR just the renuciation certificate is OK. I am providing copy of indian passport pages as suggested in checklist as proof of my Indian Origin. Please let me know if you also provided expired Indian passport when mailing all the documents, this is the only question i have.

I am also sending my US passport with notarized photocopy of US passport.

Same, my OCI was dispatched from MEA on March 16th and no update on SFO receiving it .
