  • Minor OCI renewal - UNDER PROCESS

    Hello

I submitted my daughter's oci renewal application about 9 weeks ago to VFS NY. It has reached the indian consulate on May 17 and it has been UNDER PROCESS since then.
We need to travel to India ASAP, is it possible to revoke the application?

I called VFS but they were of no help , they told me to contact the Indian consulate in India, which I can't find contact information for.

If anyone has a email or phone number for the Indian embassy, please let me know.

    Thank you in advance!

Why revoke? Let it continue, and you will get the OCI when it is ready.

For immediate travel to India, you can apply for a emergency entry visa. Having an OCI under process does not effect the visa process.

Visit the NY consulate website https://www.indiainnewyork.gov.in/ and look for the "Emergency Visa Procedure" on the right side-bar. I am surprised that you couldn't find the contact information for the consulate, they have the "Contact" link right at the top of the page.

If the travel is due to death or serious illness of a family member, you call their emergency number.

If it is a different sort of emergency, then use the 'Pramit' portal to submit a query - https://pramit.indiainnewyork.gov.in/ - they respond prompty.

    Good luck.

Edit: Apologies, I missed that it was renewal and not a new application. I assume you want the old OCI back. Surprised that it is taking so long. Even new OCIs are being done in two months. Best to contact the consulate.

Hi, just seeing your reply. First of all, thank you for your reply. After submitting the question, I did contact the consulate via PRAMIT, this was their reply.

It has been 3 full weeks today, going to wait another day or two to see if they update.

Please visit the link to find out the status of OCI application: https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury

If the search yields nothing, the application hasn’t been registered at the Consulate and is yet to be received at the Consulate from VFS. You may contact VFS for status update.

If the search yields an acknowledgement date, please note that the application is under process at the Consulate and it will take around 2-3 weeks to reissue the OCI card from the Date of Acknowledgment. May also kindly note that OCI is not an emergency document, hence cannot be expedited. In case of an emergency, kindly avail an Entry Visa. Visa can be availed even if OCI is under process.

If the search yields that the OCI card has been printed and received in New York, the OCI card has been handed over to VFS for dispatch to you. You may contact VFS for dispatch details.

Sorry to hear that. Several users have posted very good experiences using the Pramit system.

You could try emailing them or contact them on the online-chat. Hope it works out for you.

They are quick in getting back , I agree. But now I am beyond irritated. Here is the latest update:

I emailed them again this morning as its been over 3 weeks and asked them if they need anything from our end due to the delay.

          Here is their response:

Your Application Will Take Longer To Be Processed Because The Signature Has Been Uploaded Upside-Down. Kindly Allow It Extra Time For The Rescan To Be Processed And The OCI Card To Be Printed.

Now, is it possible for me to get an entry visa and go to India while the OCI is in process? Does anyone know?
