Renunciation Certificate Question

Hi All,

My indian passport contains a stamp that reads "Passport Cancelled As holder has acquired US Citizenship - CGI Houston".

Also, I read here on immihelp.com that the edges of the passport are cut when they cancel the passport but my indian passport edges are NOT cut. Is this a problem?

So, do I still need to get renunciation certificate?

I am very confused as I am visiting India next month.

Surrender Certificate

Cancelled passport or Surrender Certificate is not required to travel to India. Since your passport is already cancelled, you do not have to do any thing. Ofcourse you need a visa or OCI card or PIO card to travel to India. If you need to apply for Entry Visa/OCI/PIO you need to submit a copy of your cancelled passport. Cut edge of passport does not make any difference. You do not have to carry a cancelled passport to travel to India.
