  • Lost my old Indian passport

I have a situation and I wasn't quite sure where exactly to post this question. I have already received my naturalization but I seemed to have misplaced my old Indian Passport. I thought I had given it up when I got my naturalization which was about 5 years ago. Anyhow, I need to get my visa to visit India and it's been 12 years since I've been back home. Now, to get this visa, it seems that I need to present my old passport. I have no idea where that is. It says that I would need to get a police report if I lost it. I live in NYC and I went to a police precinct to get a report. They said that I would need to go to the embassy and get a stamp of some sort. I went to the embassy and they said that I have to come back from 9am to 12pm. That is going to be a major complication since I work on all the weekdays. Taking off would be very difficult. Any advice? Would I really need something from the embassy to report a lost passport?

    Lost Indian Passport

Have look at the link /indian-citizenship-renunciation-certificate/ I do not believe that a police report is required. You need to submit an affidavit statinng the facts and provide copiy birth certificate and naturalization certficate.
