Dear Sir/Ms.,
We have applied for a life-long visa sticker on August 27, 2010 (based on our OCI status) because of changes in our U.S. passport.
I know that we are not supposed to make inquiries with reference to the status of our application except as it appears via the tracking system. However, since we do not have any indication of the New York Consulate having received our application (my wife’s and mine), and we are to travel to India on October 21, 2010, I was a bit worried of not obtaining the visa sticker in time (Your site states 6 to 12 weeks depending on the Consulate).
With this in mind, could you let us know what should be our course of action?
1. Is there an extra payment that can be made for priority services?
2. Should we apply for a regular visa as a precautionary measure, and can this be done fast?
3. Should we have someone (our nephew, for example) visit the consulate to speed matters
4. Should we visit in person? or
5. Do you feel that it will be done in time and we need to just wait it out?
Thanks.
