How long for DC Embassy to simply acknowledge receipt of OCI passport updates?

    We uploaded everything on 12/5 and they still haven't acknowledged the receipt of the applications. 3 of them. We did our parents' ones on Nov-29 and they were both acknowledged on 12/2.

    Do we need to call the embassy? I have tried calling and leaving voicemails for help but have never received a call back either. I get to talk to someone at the Atlanta Embassy at times for my niece's application but I cannot manage to get anyone on the line with the DC embassy?

    Is that DC embassy a mess?

    Its been almost a month and the status says "Your application is yet to be acknowledged by competent authorities."

    I suppose they are running low on "competent authorities" and are all incompetent?

    So, they have proven they are truly incompetent.

    I uploaded 3 passport update applications on 12/5 and one for OCI re-issuance for my daughter who is now over 20 on 12/19

    The simple passport updates were not even acknowledged for 6 weeks. They only changed to acknowledged after I sent a nasty email to the email address they provide on Twitter for the DC embassy.

    The acknowledgements were Jan 17 for my application (the day they responded to my email after about a week of getting it) and Jan 21 for the other 2.

    My application was finally approved on Feb 22, 22

    I sent ANOTHER email this past week (2/28) as my daughter's re-issuance was "processed and printed on 2/17" and did not have any movement. 2 days after I sent that 2nd nasty email on March 2, the VFS people got the OCI and I finally received it yesterday.

    I asked them to take a look and see for themselves that ALL the other embassies are processing their workloads in a timely fashion and some are turning around Fresh brand new OCI requests in 28 days flat and every late/delayed complaint is only for the DC embassy.

    Something is very wrong with most of the staff in the DC embassy. They never pick up the phone, never return voicemails, take a week to respond to the email and are downright lazy and incompetent is the ONLY conclusion I have because in Jan, their pathetic reply said "they had some COVID issues". Well. COVID is resolved in 2 or so weeks. Its been 8 more weeks for me with NO PROGRESS so it can't just be COVID. Laziness is what it is I think.
