Documents required for renewing OCI for 20+ Yr olds vs 50+ yr olds

Renewed the OCI for myself (50+) and process required only new photo, signature and copy of new passport.

I then tried to renew the OCI for my son who is 20+ and has a new passport, and the site asked for an extensive list of supporting docs (like before the simplified process came about). Image attached.

Does the simplified process apply only to 50+ year olds?

I think you are under the impression of the old system where you needed to re-issue the OCI once after turning 50. Have to do that once after turning 20 too.

They got rid of the reissue after turning 50 now so you got the simple update process. You still need to pay for and get the OCI re-issued and that is the long(er) process. My daughter's is in processing right now and yes, we had to upload quite a bit AND had to mail the physical application in to the VFS office.

No. Not exactly. After you get an OCI, if you got it before you turned 20, you need it re-issued once after you turn 20. ALL other times, its the simple upload photo/new passport PDFs and wait for the update to be confirmed. Before then, you had to re-issue twice. Once after you turned 20 and once after you turned 50. Now, its only once.
