  • applied for PIO card in person at CGISF - no hassles at all.

After receiving the surrender certificate for our old indian passport, we applied for PIO card in person at CGISF - the process was very smooth with no hassles at all.

They gave back all our passports - US and Indian within 5 minutes. We did have to wait in multiple lines for a couple of hours total tough but I will take that anyday to avoid the uncertainity of mailing stuff (especially us passports) to CGISF and not have any form of tracking/ack for PIO applications.

Plan to apply for PIO in person : question on Notary

I plan to apply for PIO card in person next Friday (Nov 26th, 2010) day after Thankgiving holidays.

I wanted to find out, if Notorization of copies of US/Indian Passport pages are required, as I would be also carrying the originals. That does not seem to clearly stated in cgisf.org web site. On this site, it is stated otherwise.

I also believe they take Debit Card with $3.00 charge. Do they take CASH for Return Mail service, or you are better off handing them a Pre-Paid Federal Express Mailing Envelope?

    thank you
