OCI Help - Deceased Parent
Hi folks,
I just submitted a new OCI application on behalf of my mother, who is an Indian citizen. My father passed away in 2000s.
The embassy is asking for the following information:
- Birth certificate with Father’s name
- Copy of Father’s documents such as last held Indian passport or other proof of Indian origin under his name
Regarding my birth certificate, I have called the Maryland Department of Health (where I was born) and they informed me the only way to get my father's name on the birth certificate is for my father to complete an Affidavit of Parentage. Since my father is not alive, there is no way for me to add my father's name to my birth certificate. I am not sure what other options I have.
Regarding the second point, does anyone have a list of "other proof of Indian origin" that can qualify? My mother told me he never made his passport.
