  • Name on passport written in wrong order

    Hi all,
My wife is applying for australian citizenship, on her passport in surname field they wrote first and middle name and in given names they wrote last name. She got evry other thing correct here in australia i.e. drivers licence name on financial institute or any account.

Now Australian citizenship authorities not accepting this mistake. More trouble is whrn the clerk wrote on a passport he crossed "sur" and keep name, then he wrote first name and middle name with space! But he didn't add surname in next line and just wrote last name in front of given name.

Now question is, on marriage cert and other certificates such as birth, degree it is clear to prove. There is no name change to apply for change in name, also she don't want passport either because she gonna cancel it anyway after australian citizenship. So how can it will be fixed?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The Australian authorities won't accept the mistake as it is not their fault. You have to go to an Indian Embassy and get it corrected. Any reason for not correcting it when you received the passport?
