  • OCI in India

    Hi Friends,

I have a question on OCI application for my nephew. He is 17 years old, he was born and living in India. His father is a Canadian citizen and thru him he got his Canadian citizenship card (Minor children of Canadian parent can get Canadian citizenship). He is planing to move Canada for good. Also he is applying for OCI and we are confused on the documents listed in the MHA website

As per this document, it says "Proof of present citizenship. In case application is filled in India, a copy of valid visa/Residential permit for a minimum valid period of three months should also be enclosed."

1.If he receive his Canadian passport, does it void his Indian citizenship and force him to leave the country?
    2. Current he is living as a Indian and he doesn't have any permit. Does he has to get any permit in India in-order to complete his education this year?
    3. Do you advice to apply OCI from Canada instead of India?
    4. Do you advice to apply PIO instead of OCI?

    Please advice.

He has to apply for a visa and surrender his Indian pp. With an X visa (entry visa) he can complete his schooling in India.
