urgent help required

i lost my and my wife's passport in a flight. now am applying for a duplicate one at Indian embassy in washington dc. I have some questions regarding the same.

1. I had lodged a police complaint at the RDU airport police station. i also have a case number for the same. will that complaint count legit for the documents to be submitted?
2. where do i get my affidavits notarized?
3. how long does it take for the duplicate passports to come?
4. my H1 extension process is also on. since my duplicate passport will have a new number will it affect my process?

simple, call to indian embassy and tell them ur situation and ask them the processing time for duplicate passport. also call the office where u applied for H-1 extenison and tell them all the situation.I think they will simply tell you to send them ur new passport photocopy whenever u receive it.
I applied for my kids(US citizens) passport very first time.When i didnt receive their passport within given time period i call embassy and they told me passport already sent to our mailing address a week ago.Post office guys said they delievered to my apartment and they showed me paper signed by person who received it.we dont know that person .In short ,stolen. So i applied again and got passport same day in evening in person.
Nobody can give you better answer other than official persons.

sorry about that.but keep trying.Or get their e-mail address and e-mail them.I belong to indian embassy in San francisco and whenever i have question i ask them by e-mail and also on this website.I am also in trouble right now going back to India agian .Any ways leave my story.Whenever u fill application there is always an e-mail address at the end.I dont know about ur side indian embassy,but its in san francisco one. all i can say keep trying.Dont try in noon timings .Because of embassy lunch time.try in morning timings.thats all i can say.
