  • question regarding infant Visa for India

    Hi All,

I am on L1B visa and my visa is expiring in Sep-2012, but i do have valid i-94 so i can stay in US for 2 more year on I-94.
We are expecting our baby in Dec 2012. I gone through process of PIO card and there i found that i cannot apply for PIO card for my baby because i don't have valid visa at that time. So other option is to apply for Indian Visa for Baby.
    1) What type of visa we need to apply for baby (visitor ,entry etc) ?
    2) is there any rule that husband's name should be endorsed on wife's passport for processing with Baby's visa process ? i am asking because recently one of my friend in india faced issue when he was trying to get indian passport for his baby.
    3) if we get visa for baby and go to india, how many day;s it takes to get PIO card there.

    Appreciate your help in advance.

    Regards,
    Vishal

You can still apply for PIO card for your baby. L1 visa stamp is only for entry into the U.S. What is important is your legal status which is your L1 status which is still valid.

    Anyway, for India visa.
    1. You can apply for Entry visa.
    2. There is no such rule.
    3. Timings vary all the time.
