I am on L1B Visa working for MNC in the U.S in IT field. Do I need to go through my present company to file for Green Card. If its possible to file GC through any lawyer, how much it would cost?

When you file for employment based Green card - its mandatory that you route it through your company.
Cannot do it on your own.

Yes whether its L1A, L1B or H1B, it is the employer who has to file for your employment based Green card.
