India Visa Requirements’ Application Submitted on 04/23/2010
1. Application ….. DONE
2. Passport ………(U.S.) DONE D.O.B 11/11/1977 (Correct)
3. Photographs ….. DONE
4. Proof of Address….(CA DL) DONE D.O.B. 11/11/1977 (Correct)
5. Birth Certificate (Indian) DONE D.O.B. 11/11/1977 (Correct)
I was informed that C.G.I. needed my Indian Passport on 04/26/2010 when I tried to pick up my passport at “TRAVISA OFFICE”
On 04/27/2010 I received a call from Mr. X and that same day I supplied it to “TRAVISA OFFICE”
Wrote a note to MR. X stating that my D.O.B on my Indian Passport is Incorrect (Note: This was provided to me by C.G.I. sometimes in the 90’s I have been to India using my Indian Passport TWICE & did not notice my D.O.B as I was a minor and my parents were in possession of all my documents) I also gave a copy of my “Green Card” which has my correct D.O.B 11/11/1977
On 04/28/2010 I received a called from Mr. X and that he wanted to arrange a meeting with me. He also requested me to bring in more documents. The meeting was arranged for 04/4/2010
04/04/2010 I went to C.G.I in SF and saw Mr. X I had the same documents (listed above) and could not provide anymore. Mr. X told me that it is out of his hand and that he will have his SUPERVISOR take a look at it and will let me know Today. I have mentioned to him and told him that my flight is for May 20th and asked how long will this take. He said not long I will call you later on today. On that very same day After 3pm I still haven’t heard from Mr. X I tried to call and left message three different times.
05/05/2010 I went into the C.G.I. office again and asked to see Mr. X because I have not heard back from him or anyone else. He asked me Why am I here. I told him that I have not heard back from anyone regarding the status of my VISA. He said it is on his Supervisors desk and for me not to worry and that he will let me know for sure today. Once again after 3pm I haven’t heard from anyone so I called Twice and left a message. Then I opened a “queries” using CGISF.ORG.
I received and email back from [email protected] (below is the email)
Dear Sir,
Please refer to your e-mail.
You are stating that the Indian passport had an incorrect DOB. If this is so, kindly provide another Indian Government document, apart from your Birth certificate, which states you 'correct' DOB. If no such document can be provided, your request for visa cannot be processed.
Thank you for your understanding.
05/06/2010 I went back to C.G.I met with Mr. X and gave him a COPY of my “IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION” ISSUED DATE 11/13/1987 on that my document my D.O.B. is Correct 11/11/1977 (Note: at this point I have provided 5 Legal Documents/ID with my correct D.O.B) I have also Asked to get a meeting with the Consular General regarding this matter and Mr. X said she is booked for month
05/10/2010 I still haven’t heard from anyone regarding the status of my VISA.
It is very disturbing to me because I am an INDIAN BORN AMERICAN CITIZEN and for me to go through this painful process because someone had misprinted my D.O.B on my Indian passport.
My kids were provided with Indian Visa using the copy of my Birth Certificate and CA DL. Yet I am being asked to go through this rigorous process for a mistake that was not in my control.
