  • Health Insurance and sponsoring parents for green card

    Hello,

I'm european, and my English is not fluent, so thank you for your indulgence. I explain my problem.

My parents in law are Korean (76 and 70 years old), they are now living in Korea.
My sister-in-law who is living in US since about 1990, she is US citizen for some years now, promise them long time ago, to receive them in USA for always.
So, I am trying to get informations on all that. Because since she promises all this, parents in law are sending lots of money to her to "help" (buy a house,etc...), because they are expecting her to take care of them later in USA.
I am very surprise, because I suppose that we can't obtain visa (more than 6 months) or green card so easyly, and above all, I know that health insurance is very expensive in USA... and they are old...and I am sure that when they send all money they have, she would say to them "You can't come, it is impossible", so I want to take informations for them, before they are ruined :{.
I have read on UCSIS's website that US citizen can sponsor parents for green card, or other solution, they can require a visa B2 (visitors) for 6 months maximum.
But for health insurance, I think that for people of that age, it would be so expensive to take insurance (may be about 500 €/person/month?, so it wouldn't be possible), and I suppose that to obtain the green card, the sponsor has to prove that parents have a health insurance in US...

If someone can give me some explaination on all this,

    Thank you

I will answer your questions to the extent I understand your posting.

It is generally hard to get health insurance for persons of over the age of 65 years who are new immigrants to the U.S. Please read https://www.insubuy.com/new-immigrant-insurance/-plans/ to understand more.

Please look at the available plans at https://www.insubuy.com/new-immigrant-insurance/

Please note that none of the plans will cover any expenses related to pre-existing conditions, or preventive check ups.

I hope that answers your questions.

If you have further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.
    Thanks & Regards
