  • Barred from entering the US?

    Hi.

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'll just start.
December 2010 I traveled to the US on the VWP to visit my boyfriend, he proposed and June 2011 we entered into a good faith marriage. I got my SSN and green card in february 2012. August 2013 I left the US and we got separated. My green card is expiring, and I have no intention of renewing it. Do I have to write to USCIS or fill out a form? Also, would this lead to me being denied to enter the US later, if I wanted to?

If your Green Card expires while you are out of the U.S., there is no need to notify any U.S. agency that you no longer need U.S. Permanent Resident status. The State Department has no obligation to continue providing services or maintaining a continuing status file of non-citizens.

Also, there are no bars to you reacquiring a visa or being petitioning at some time in the future, unless you have somehow been involved in visa fraud or are otherwise inadmissible.
