Using multiple I94- entries to the US

I am an Australian citizen who for the past 2 years travelling regularly to the US to visit my children. To date I've been entering the US 5 to 7 times per year and staying between 2 - 6 weeks entering with an I94 Visa waiver. I have a business in Australia however I'm in a situation where I no longer need to work. My passport also contains current a residency permit for another country.

On my last entry the immigration officer questioned me extensively on my repeated visits to the US and finally allowed me entry. My question is, will I have problems using this form of entry to the US in the future?
