    Green Card Processing time

Not sure if this is the right forum or not. Basically I am in IT professional working is US on H1 -B. One very basic question, if I start my green card process now how much time would it take on an average from A-Z to get a green card?

    Regards

depends on which country you are from, which category you file under... some folks here have been waiting 8+ years for their green card.

I am from India and on H1-B with 6 years experience, I assume my category would be EB3 as I dont have a masters degree. With this info what would be the estimated wait

the current priority date for filing 485 for EB3 India is april 2001. So you would need to wait 5 years before filing 485 (if it does not retrogress further). Add another 1-2 years after that to get your green card. so a total of around 7 years.

          Depends on US immigration?<>?

Are you sure it will take 8 years. It is your guess, may be less then or greater then.... So it all depends on the US immigration

Luck plays a major role in your green card. I know people who have got their green cards within 2 years and I know of others who have been waiting 10+ years and still havent got it. So, depends on your luck.

Im not that lucky but now I dont care. I really hope more companies outsource their work soon (not just IT/bpo) so they become profitable and I have a reason to go home for good .
