  • New PERM Application

    Hi Friends,

My company (a 2 bllion dollar US oil company) just had me fill a questionnaire so that I can start my PERM process. I have gone through the documentation on this website but still have some questions:

1.) My company did not give me a case number. The HR just said we have started the process.

2.) PERM means getting a case number and a Priority Date or just posting ads here and there?

3.) They didn't ask for any supporting docs, just asked to fill a questionnaire.

How do I get a case number and PD or we can PERM without these also? Is PERM and LC same thing or what?

    Thanks a lot as always.

The date the labor is filed will be your PD. There is some pre-filing process that could take 2-3 months. Your PD is not yours technically until the I140 is approved for that labor.

      Hey TXh1B,

Thanks for the lightning fast reply as always. I know the company has to test the labor market - so is the PERM applied after positing ads or before posting ads and doing interviews etc?

      Thanks.

Perm cannot be filed until the ad process, collection of resumes etc is done.

          Thanks txh1b.

Is there a list of docs that I would need when the HR will ask for it - I'd like to keep all the docs ready, in case.

How can I get a list of all the docs (as per USCIS) required for PERM, I-140?

Detailed experience letters with job duties, role, responsibilities from previous employers would help.
