Is It Possible for my Employer to file PERM while I am on OPT Status?

Hi Everybody,

I am on OPT 17 Month STEM Extension, where I found Job and working as a Programmer Analyst .And my Employer would like to sponsor green card for me.

Is it possible for my employer to file PERM even though I am on OPT status? Obviously he would like to apply H1B for me under Masters Quota some time in Dec 2010, since my OPT expires in May 2011.

If it is possible for him to file PERM for me? Does he need to satisfy salary expectation on PWD (privilege Wage Determination) for PERM.? Since I am only getting paid 25000 per annum, since I am on OPT.
