  • Germany : Torrent movie downloaded and got fined

    Dear Forum,

Kindly help me on the Long term visa for Germany.

I stayed in Germany for 1 year 5 years back. During that time I downloaded some movies and got a legal notice for paying the fine of around 1000euro from a company. I paid the money.

Now after 5 years, I am planning to apply for resident permit to Germany again. Kindly help me if I could be on the "Blacklist" or Schengen information system? Need your help

      Hey,

Be careful with torrents in Germany, the fines are really strict. If you just want to watch movies safely without those risks, apps like Vedu are a much better option since they let you stream in HD/4K without ads or legal trouble.

Since you paid the fine and the matter was settled, it is a civil issue and not a criminal conviction. Such cases normally do not lead to a blacklist or entry in the Schengen Information System. It should not affect your new German residence permit application.

When a copyrighted movie is downloaded without permission, rights holders or their representatives often monitor torrent networks to track infringers. Once identified, the downloader may receive a formal warning for Cinema APK (Abmahnung) along with a demand for a fine, which can include both compensation for damages and legal fees.

If you have already paid the fine and settled the matter legally, it’s unlikely to affect your long-term visa application, as these issues are generally considered resolved once settled. However, each application is reviewed individually, and immigration authorities may still check your history, so it’s wise to be transparent in your application. To avoid similar situations in the future, consider using legal streaming solutions that don’t require downloading copyrighted content. You can learn more about platforms that allow safe and instant streaming of movies and TV shows without downloading files, keeping your entertainment both convenient and risk-free.
