Schengen Visa for Canadian Permanent Resident

Hello,
I came to Canada as a refugee form Colombia. I am now a permanent resident and I wish to obtain a Schengen Visa to visit Italy this summer. A friend told me they could ask me for a Travel Document to be able to appy for the visa.
My question is: Do I need a Travel document even though I have a valid Colombian Passport and have been able to travel to many countries with it?

Yes You need your Combodian passport to apply for visa incase you don't or can't have Canadian passport(btw if you hold canadian passport then you dont need visa for short stay).
