  • Flying Through Frankfurt. Transit Visa Needed?

    Hello,

    First time poster here.
    I plan to visit home (Lebanon) in a couple of weeks. I only hold a Lebanese passport.

    I will be flying JFK-FRA-BEY and back on Lufthansa airlines the whole way. I used to always get transit visa's through Germany but recently the German consulate website added the following details to their consulate website. It doesnt sound like I need a transit visa, but I thought I would check:

    See the Link here at the http://www.germany.info/Vertretung/u...sit__Visa.html

    The consulate states that
    Only three airports in Germany, have an International Transit Area

    * Frankfurt/Main
    * Munich (München)
    * Hamburg (limited time frame only 04.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m.)

    Please check with your Airline, if you have to pick up your baggage and/or have to check-in again.
    If so, you need to enter Germany. You will need a transit visa.
    If I am flying lufthansa all the way. So I will not need to pick up my baggage and I only need to clear security and walk over to my next gate. Does this mean I dont need a transit visa? This verbiage was added recently because it wasnt there earlier in the year.

    Thanks,
    mas
